Library Services and Resources During COVID-19

This guide will provide library information specific to library resources and services available during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Other Questions

I am trying to access the Library's online resources but I'm off campus and I'm having trouble logging in.

When logging into the BSU Library Resource Login page, enter your StarID (without the "@live.bemidjistate.edu") and StarID Password, then click on the Login button. If you need to reset or look up your StarID password, this can be done at the StarID Self Service site.

If you are an employee connected to BSU's VPN, you may need to log out of the VPN in order to access online resources.

Where can I access computers on campus?

Computers in the library are available for students and employees on the 3rd (main), 2nd, and 1st floors. The 3rd (main) floor also contains 3 iMacs with Zoom video capability.  Webcams with integrated microphones can also be checked out at the Circulation Desk, for use with the library computers or with personal laptops.

Elsewhere on campus, computers are available in the Beaver Lounge (24/7 computer lab in Decker Hall 108). Please contact the ITS desk for more details and support: 218-755-3777.

Can I request books using interlibrary loan?

Yes! Because many libraries around the country are quarantining materials between uses and library employees are often working in modified schedules to promote social distancing, material wait times are longer than usual.

Why are you quarantining library materials?

Current research shows that the SARS-CoV-2 virus remains on library materials for various amounts of time depending on: the material type (e.g. paperback book, plastic DVD case, etc.) and the way the material is stored (e.g. stacked, standing alone, etc.). The current recommendation resulting from this research is to quarantine materials for three days after being returned. Thus, all materials returned to the library are quarantined for three days before being reshelved. Quarantine times may change in the future based on evolving recommendations. More information can be found through the Reopening Archives, Libraries, and Museums (REALM) Information Hub: A COVID-19 Research Project website.
