Founded in 1920, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) is the world's largest mathematics education organization

The Goals of the PME-NA are: 1. To promote international contacts and the exchange of scientific information in the psychology of mathematics education. 2. To promote and stimulate interdisciplinary research in the aforesaid area, with the cooperation of psychologists, mathematicians and mathematics teachers. 3. To further a deeper and better understanding of the psychological aspects of teaching and learning mathematics and the implications thereof.

The Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE) is the largest professional organization devoted to the improvement of mathematics teacher education. The mission of AMTE is to promote the improvement of mathematics teacher education, K-12.
